Post Membership Meeting May 12, 2020

1. Opening Ceremony: Meeting called to order at 18:20 by Commander Shelley. Chaplain Saunders gave opening prayer and all joined in the Pledge of Allegiance.
2. Guest: None
3. Roll Call of Officers: 13 present, 2 excused (Adjutant – Andrew Plam and Service Officer Joe Harner) and 1 unexcused – Junior Vice – Phillip Garland
4. Petitions for Membership: David Hopkins – Life Member from Post 668.Accepted
5. Reading highlights of previous minutes: Stood as read
6. Quartermaster Report of Income and Disbursements: Distributed and read. Motion to accept by Steven Alex, second by Kevin Dehn. Subject to Audit.
7. Comrade in distress: None
8. Committee Reports: Senior Vice Commander – Danny Thornton, due to COVID19 awards for Patriot Pen, Voice of Democracy were taken to the respective schools for presentation, Fire fighter EMT awards were presented to the winners by SV Thornton and JImmy Bozeman. Buddy Poppy fund raising cancelled due to COVID 19. More Buddy Poppies have been ordered but have not been received. We still have a roadblock scheduled for November but may not be able to reschedule the May Buddy Poppy roadblocks.
9. Reading of official Communications: As of May 1st VFW National has reduced membership requirement to 98% for this year. Our numbers reflect almost 103%.
10. Unfinished Business: Comcast “Grand Opening” to introduce Veterans to the new computers available to help them seek jobs, Veterans benefits, etc has been postponed due COVID 19.
11. New Business: Jimmy Bozeman and Joyce Shelley stated the post in Talladega closed. Joyce Shelley purchased custom made Island for $150.00 and 6 tables, 24 chairs for $330.00. Motion made by Steven to reimburse Joyce Shelley for the $330.00 for tables and chairs, second by Kevin Dehn, motion passed unanimously.

    • Commander: Joyce Shelley nominated by Jimmy Bozeman, elected by acclamation
    • Senior Vice Commander: Danny Thornton nominated by Joyce Shelley, elected by acclamation
    • Junior Vice Commander: Stacey Garmon nominated by Jimmy Bozeman, elected by acclamation
    • Quartermaster: Steven Alex nominated by Johnny Holmes, elected by acclamation
    • Chaplain: Woody Coheley nominated by Maurice Sanders, elected by acclamation
    • Trustee 3 year: Jeff Garmon nominated by Joyce Shelley, elected by acclamation. Trustee 2 year: Kevin Dehn and Trustee 1 year: Will Campbell remain.
    • House Committee 3 year: Andrew Plam nominated by Jimmy Bozeman, elected by acclamation, Jimmy Bozeman moves to 2 year and Joe Harner moves to 1 year and Danny Thornton also 1 year.
    • Surgeon: Ray Holland nominated by Johnny Holmes, elected by acclamation
    • Adjutant: Lorena Beam nominated by Jimmy Bozeman, elected by acclamation
    • Service Officer: Joe Harner nominated by Joyce Shelley, elected by acclamation
