Meeting opened at 6PM by Commander LaPoint Opening ceremonies conducted. Chaplin Sanders gave Opening Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance recited by all members present.

Roll Call officers: 44 Present. 2 Absent and 2 Excused.

Petitions fore Membership: None

Reading of Previous Meeting Minutes approved as read.

Quartermasters Report of Disbursements and receipts given. approved.

Comrade in Distress: none mentioned.

Reports of all committees given and approved.

Reading of Official communications.

Unfinished Business:

District 2 Commander informed us his term as District 2 Commander ended at close of State Convention June 5, 2016. Door replacement still pending. Handicap ramp still on hand, hunting someone in need of it.

New Business:

VFW Post 8600 was named to VTW All-State Post Team for year 2015-16. Letter from the Voice of Democracy Winner from Etowah High School thanking us for giving her the opportunity to participate in the VOD Program. Motion by Sr. Vice Holmes. second by Commander LaPoint to buy All-State Pins for post members, motion carried. Motion by Commander LaPoint to get rid of all unuseful items in storage second by Comrade Holmes to give it to someone willing to remove it. Motion carried. Commander LaPoint wants to set up a Blood drive at post in near future, second by Comrade Holmes. Commander LaPoint will work on the project. Motion to make donation to Funeral expense of Margaret Smith (a long lime waitress for our Post Dance). Post will provide space for a celebration of life and donate $100.00. Motion was by Comrade LaPoint and second by Comrade Holmes, motion carried. The Post will sell the Electric chair for $500.00 if we can find a buyer, Motion by Comrade LaPoint, second by Comrade Holmes. motion carried. Motion by Comrade Sanders to print and pass out copy of Quartermaster Report to members present instead of reading to members. We will sell the ramp for $400.00 or more. Motion by Comrade LaPoint. second by Comrade Holmes, motion carried. Comrade Holmes will go thru all past post files and remove/dispose of all items that have met the records retention period.
