  1. Opening Ceremony: Meeting Opened at 6:08 PM by Commander LaPoint. Chaplin Saunders gave opening prayer. Pledge of Allegiance recited by all members present.
  2. Guests: Stephen Connelly, Department Inspector
  3. Roll Call of Officers:15 Present, 1 Absent (Tr1)). Cmdr, SVCmdr, JVCmdr, Qmst, Chap, Tr3, Tr2, Tr1, HC1, HC2, HC3, Surg, Serv, Adj, OD, JudgA
  4. Petitions For Membership: None
  5. Distribution and reading highlights of previous minutes was conducted. After answering several questions the Minutes stand as read.
  6. Quartermaster Report of Income and Disbursements distributed and discussed. As of yesterday (2018-03-12) we have $51,151.43 in the bank or or a $6,525.87 profit since the beginning of 2018. Motion made by Shelly, seconded by Holmes to accepted the report, subject to Audit
  7. Comrade in Distress: None
  8. Committee Reports.
    • Canteen and House Committee reports given by Chairman Shelly.

      Update on task items on possibly obtaining a loan to remodel Post Home. Talked with River Bank about a loan. Provided Profit/Loss reports for last three years. Need quotes on what work will be done. Changing our liquor license to a Special Retail License instead of a Club License is unfinished. Need to make appointment with ABC and get details on Special Retail License.

      The new band on a six week trial, Alabama Backwater, does not seem to be working out. We keep trying. Still need volunteers to work the door and now to clean the bathrooms etc once a week.Real Estate agent best estimate for the market value of the property is $650,000.Starting to serve food on Saturday and Sunday during Dance/Karaoke - doing okay.Discussed promoting and advertising the hall rental. Need to move pictures from hall to include only current Commander/President.Possibility of closing canteen on Monday/Tuesday if things don't pick up.

  9. Reading of Official Communications: General Order #9 was read to membership and some items were brought up for discussion. Commander Doughty home coming April 13-15 in Selma. Council of administration on 15th State Convention May 31 June 2. Some discussion on Buddy Poppy drive for Memorial Day and conflict.
  10. Unfinished Business:
    • $712 left to finish floor where the old bathroom was located in the lounge.
    • $1000 allocated to replace two doors in lounge.
    • All-American sign purchased and waiting for better weather to install.
  11. New Business:
    • Alex made motion to purchase a large mop bucket, mop and dust mop to aid in cleanup. Approximately $70. Motion seconded and carried.
    • Alex made motion to purchase Bingo equipment if we can justify obtaining a Bingo License. Approximately $500 but won't purchase until we thing we can man the operation and make a profit. This may take several months with everything else going on. Motion seconded and carried.
    • Shelly made motion to relocate pictures of past Commanders/President to the back meeting room. Motion seconded and carried.
    • Commander LaPoint made motion to support a Yard Sale April 20/21. The sale will include much of the junk in the back room. Motion seconded and carried.
    • Commander LaPoint made motion to leave the decision on closing the Canteen on Mondays and/or Tuesdays up to the House Committee. This is a last resort decision. Motion seconded and carried.
